What is Gastrodin

Gastrodin is an organic compound extracted from the dried roots of the orchid Gastrodia elata. The raw material is produced in Yunnan. Gastrodin has good sedative and hypnotic effects, and can relieve symptoms of neurasthenia, insomnia, and headaches. The traditional Chinese medicine Gastrodia elata can treat pain, dizziness, numbness of limbs, and convulsions with shock and pain. Clinically, it can be used to treat vertebral-basilar artery insufficiency, vestibular neuronitis and vertigo

1. Effect on vascular blood pressure: The vasoconstrictor factor endothelin (ET), endothelium-derived vasodilator factor and nitric oxide (NO) secreted by vascular endothelial cells are all related to the onset of hypertension.
2. Anti-platelet effect: The aggregation rate of platelets was measured by turbidimetric method. The results showed that Gastrodia elata extract can inhibit adenosine diphosphate (ADP) in in vitro rabbit, semi-isolated rat and in vivo platelet aggregation tests in mice. ); in in vitro experiments, Gastrodia elata extract G2 can also inhibit platelet aggregation induced by platelet activating factor (PAF).
3. Effect on nerve cells: Experiments have shown that gastrodin has the effect of scavenging excessive free radicals, and has also shown various protective effects on nerve cells cultured in vitro against ischemia-reperfusion injury.

4. Effect on immune function: Gastrodin injection can significantly enhance the phagocytosis function of mouse macrophages and serum lysozyme ability. The values of hemolysis blank test, IRFC test and anti-SRBC test were all significantly higher than those of the control group, indicating that gastrodin injection enhanced both cellular immunity and humoral immunity in mice's non-specific immunity.
