Silymarin is a natural flavonoid lignan compound. It is a natural active substance extracted from the dried fruits of milk thistle of the Asteraceae family. Its main components are silybin and isosilibin. silybin, silydianin and silychristin. Silymarin is poorly soluble in water, easily soluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, methanol and ethanol, and slightly soluble in chloroform.
